Saving Brodsworth Welfare Miners Hall

And Re-envisioning its Future

Working alongside The Brodsworth Welfare Trust trustees, MP Ed Miliband,  The Friends of Welfare Hall group, community members, and key stakeholders. We're building a business and strategy plan to fund a phased big regeneration of the building and wider regen plan for the ward.

We have a Pizza Party Consultation on the vision designed by an incredible architect, built from the feedback we've gotten so far from the community. But we'd love for you to come & have a fun day and suggest other things towards to vision. This will be at the Welfare Hall, on Saturday 26th March 2022.

We know that a lot of people don't know what is happening in their local area, so we hope that this helps you to find out and get involved!

Bullcroft Pit: Planting over 15,000 new trees!

Tree Planting-Team Doncaster have worked with the Forestry Commission to help us get over 15,000 new trees to plant.  Tree planting season is usually considered to be mid-November to early March when trees are dormant. We're looking for any community members, schools, groups who are interested to help us finish it before Tree Planting season is up.

Preparing for upgrading Adwick Playground Equpiment

Adwick Park's playground is over 33 years old! And is well loved and used. You can see that it is well loved and needs an update of sorts. We currently have some section 106 money. We're hoping to fund-match it to make the upgrade even better. Over the summer we will be doing engagement projects to make sure the upgrade reflects YOUR needs, and hope to set up a community group to help apply for more grants.

More information soon.

Future Parks fund for Highfields Country Park

The Friends of Highfields Lake & Country Park is finally live. Join our amazing community leaders who are just every day residents who live here, who are passionate about making the Lake & surrounding areas the best they can be.

We have some funding coming next year from the "Future Parks" Fund that we've managed to get. People involved in this group will be one of the core decision-makers on what things should get made or done in the lake/park to make it a future Green Flag park!

I'll be setting up a community meeting about this sometime over March- April. Where we will do a dream session, with photos, stories, real-life examples of other places. And start to build a case where we can then apply for more grants ontop of the future parks fund. Get involved today. https://www.facebook.com/highfieldslake/

Adwick Park Community Sports Pavillion

The Adwick Community and Sports Academy group have been working incredibly hard to get this new community pavillion built. The process is definately on it's way and the councillors and community team keep updated every month. We helped to invest in this with section 106 money, alongside big investors such as the cricket foundation.  We are very excited for this project to start building.

Community Gardens

Working with local TARA groups and people on the allotment waiting lists, we are working with the communities team. STLH, and key community members to start various types of community gardens in areas with flytipping, crime, health and food access issues.  This is very much in the very early stages of the process, but if you'd like to be involved or to help fund these projects. Please email us!

Appricative Inquiry

With thanks to Well Doncaster, we have had our own officiers come out and learn and listen about what is good in our communities, but how we can also make them better. This has helped to start vast groups & actions from: Project Highfields, Re-Opening Woodlands Library, Getting to speak directly to people running services which arent working in the way we'd like, Friends of Groups, and much more. And it's just the start.

Please get involved with your next event, if interested.
